Microsoft Access lockes

Microsoft Access has two database formates the old mdb and the new accdb format.

I was wondering as I change from mdb to accdb, I got a lot of errors with not enough space on disk and not enough memory and errors by running simple update queries in Access – after updating to accdb.

I found out Microsoft has changed the max lockes pr. transaction to 9500. Before I have 200000 or more lockes available.

The work around is simple by adding this key to the registry.

Easiest way to find place to put the key was to search for ACE I found the path here:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY\MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Access Connectivity Engine\Engines\ACE

Make this key to change max lockes to 200000 and all queries are running again.

Not nice to give the memory or the disk space the reason to this error message. Databases locked to max lockes of 9500 is not to use.

This workaround is working and my Access is also working again.
